Nova's All Ears - Face The Facts About Ecstasy

Nova announcer Daniel Gawned and Nova News Director Denee Savoia will present a one-hour Nova’s All Ears special on facing the facts about ecstasy, coinciding with Drug Action Week, on Sunday 19 June from 9pm on the Nova network.

The Australian Government’s National Drugs Campaign, through this one-hour Nova’s All Ears, will provide the facts about ecstasy to educate young Australians about the risks and harms of illicit drug use.

Daniel G and Denee will be joined by special guests Professor Margaret Hamilton AO, Australian National Council on Drugs; Associate Professor Robert Ali, Director of Community Based Treatment Interventions for Drug & Alcohol Services, South Australia and guest speaker Mick, a former ecstasy user, to discuss the facts and fiction about ecstasy.

With the assistance of Professor Hamilton and Associate Professor Ali, the Nova network aims to educate and advise listeners about the short and long term effects of ecstasy use, what it does to the brain and body and the dangers of poly-drug use.

Guest speaker Mick will tell his remarkable story of ecstasy use, a catalyst for the development of a serious drug problem predominately involving prescription medication. Mick has beaten his addiction and is now working for Odyssey House in NSW to help rehabilitate other drug users.
